Getting ready to purchase a new set of tires and Firehawks are one of the choices. I've read many forum discussions about tires, noise, wet traction, looks, width, runflat (yes/no) etc. But i could not determine dry traction quality of the Firehawks from discussions. So...What is your 60ft time on Firehawks? How does dry traction compare to GYs and other tire choices (Nitto, Yoko, Michelin). Thanks for any input.
Re: Firehawks what is your 60ft time?? (rozdesign)
not getting very many responces. maybe folks who use Firehawks don't do that much racing (?) --- hopefully there are a few more Firehawk users who can respond (?) -- thanks.

David,
I have run GY,Hawks and now Yok's at the track. All run flat versions. I have gotten 1.86 60' at HRP...a very well prepared track on GY's and Hawks. That with an A4. Have not gotten any better than a 1.94 with the M6. I have only run the Yok's on the M6. Best 60' 1.95.
When HRP is well prep'd...your gonna hook...so I really dont know if this information is really any help.
On the street I would rate the dry traction...Yok's,Hawks and then GY's.
Wet weather traction, same outcome but more noticeable.
Sound and ride, Hawk's,Yok's,GY's.
There you my humble opinion. Runflats arent that popular at the track
You probably figured that out by the lack of response.

Adman, thanks for your reply. very helpful since i am also looking at Yoks. 1.9s is pretty respectable for daily driver tires. since you have owned both Firehawk and Yoks do you have a favorite? thanks.

I prefer the Yok's. The Hawks are also excellent in the rain but the Yok's seem to have a bit of an edge. Could be my imagination because the tread design is so sweeet!

I think my best is a 2.12 or a 2.17, something like that. But I SUCK at launching the car, lucky I cut a time in the 12s with my lackluster driving skills. My car can probably cut a low 12.8 or high 12.7 with a better driver and launch. :yesnod: :yesnod:
