I'm just starting my head and cam swap on my 99 FRC. After I pulled the intake today I noticed that there was dried coolant on top of the water pump. I thought it was strange that it would be up there since I've done the TB bypass and leaks generally leak, well, down.
I already have the LS6 intake and had added the coolant crossover tube and plugs update at that time. When I undid the crossover tube bolt closest in the picture below there was very little resistance. Not loose, but not very snug. The o-ring on the bottom of the fitting appeared to be compressed and there wasn't any sign of coolant pooling up below around the base of where it fits to the head. The coolant splatter marks appear to originate from the front of the engine. Does anyone have any thoughts on where this could be coming from. If I need to replace the coolant pump, now is the time.
Check under the pump/pulley and see if it feels sticky on the bottom of the pump and between the pump and block. If it is the pump is most likely leaking.

Thanks, Bill. It was the last thing I pulled yesterday and I haven't even looked it over since I lifted it out of the engine compartment, turned around and set it on the work bench. I'll take a look this morning.
