I had the oil pressure sensor replaced on my c5 and it failed after 1 week. I took it to a local wrench, whom I trust, to do the job so I,m sure he'll stand behind his work and replace it again. He replaced it with a OEM part the first time but after reading more about it the Standard Motor Prod. PS-308 seems to be the way to go. Is this the best replacement part or is there one better, where can I get it?
BTW the guage spikes way over and the elec. display shows 130 psi, just like last time. The motor runs fine, 50,000 miles, no other issues.
I agree with using the replacement brass sender as opposed to GM. After a 2nd failure of mine, I went with a PS-308 and although not brass, I also relocated it. Its been just fine.
I'm bringing it back next week to replace the new sensor. The mech. spoke to a local Chev. service dept. about it and they suggested replacement of the connector. He said the pins are so small, therefor fragile, they may have been damaged someway. That's what they found out from past experience. Since they have to replace it they might as well replace the connector too. I will purchase the brass sensor for them to install.
