Whenever I step on the gas I hear a short whistling noise. Sounds like it's coming from the front driver's side area. Can't figure out what the heck it is. Any ideas? Belt, normal LS1 intake whistle, or maybe my imagination? Whatever it is, it's bugging the crap out of me.

Deetch -
Mine makes a very high pitched whistling noise when the throttle is around 10 percent position. It is very sensitive to throttle position. I have assumed it is from air flow through throttle area. But who knows? Also I didn't notice any change after replacing stock filter with a Blackwing.

Re: Whistling noise during acceleration. (DeetchC5)
if you have an aftermarket sound system it can be line noise dur to the amp turned up too high, or wires too close to each other, or no ground wire  , as far as i konw could also be alternator whine
Re: Whistling noise during acceleration. (alc2001)
alc2001 are you getting this whistling noise right at 2200rpm to 2300 rpm steady throttle or even on light decel?
The reason I ask is mine does it right in that rpm range if I'm crusing steady on the hightway. But goes away the minute I touch the throttle. Just past 10%. 15% or more and no noise? Maybe throttle body whistle? Anyone else?

Re: Whistling noise during acceleration. (robsvette)
are you the 2nd owner? maybe you have a LPE twin turbo!!!
Exactly what I was thinking. You think there are honest people in the world then this....you buy the car and they don't tell you about the LPE twin turbo. I hate it when that happens. :D

Re: Whistling noise during acceleration. (DeetchC5)
The "dreaded" whistle only applies to the '01 model. GM redesigned the intake plenum when it brought out the Z06. It used the same plenum on the coupes and convertibles. There is an indentation/pocket in the plenum right where the throttlebody is mates to the plenum. As the air rushes in and your RPM is somewhere between 2,100 to 2,400 RPM you will hear a whistle (worse when the outside air temp is colder). Some cars whistle louder than others. Sometimes you get lucky and the whistle is barely noticeable. I hear mine "whistle" only when the temp drops below 45 degrees outside. Other than that, I never hear it. Turn up your stereo and it's practically gone. When the '02 came out GM had fixed the intake plenum problem. It's my understanding that if the "whistle" is really driving you crazy, that there is a TSB which allow you to have the plenum replaced.
MN6's (like mine) can sustain the whistle by just putting into that RPM range and holding it there (most '01 automatics only hear it momentarily since their overdrive will drop it below 2,000RPM for most driving).
