Hi everyone. I'm going to be installing these headers later on today. I'm not rookie on installing headers(did it before on two ls camaros).Anyways my question is, are the stock gasket still good to re use them or do I need to get 97-00 ls1 gasket?
Mr Gasket ultra seal 5964 bought off speedunlimited_sales Via ebay great shipping to the UK. Just remember to do a spanner check a couple of times after running 20-30 miles as the gasket tends to shrink. Tools to use are a combination and a swan neck spanner a 3/8" ratchet (easy to get in than a 1/2" ) don't over tighten just nipped up and from memory the only awkward one is the rear drivers side I think I unbolted the coil pack
I reused my 100k mile OEM gaskets with no issues. All I did was clean them up really good with brake cleaner and scotch brite and turned the end bolt holes into tabs so I could drop the gaskets in place after the header bolts were in. The tabs for the air injection worked great for dropping the gaskets in place.
thanks for the response all!
*update* everything when smooth until i started to put the pass side headers. I've removed the valve
covers and everything and dang is still pita. Looks like i have to lift the motor from the pass side. Thoughts?
Lift the motor. Loosen both mounts and just jack the passenger side. That is want I did. I fought with the passenger side for a while until I jacked it. All went well.
you shoudlnt have to do anything. i dont think anyone here with the XS power ones has had to jack up the motor. i know the passenger side on mine dropped right in. the drivers required removal of the steering linkage.

Pass side dropped right in? From where? The top?
I tried that on mine, not even close. With the head off, yes, but not with it on. Instructions say from the bottom I believe. My car is not up high enough, so the headers are still not on. I will put them on after the rear end work is done. They better be easy.
Not sure what you're trying but the headers both go in from the bottom. Push the front of the header up beside the engine and then the back end goes up between the tunnel and the bellhousing. You'll have to pull the starter to get it into place. The clips on the frame for the O2 sensor connectors will be in the way too.
Mine was getting into the tunnel on the passenger side a wee little bit. I had the trans out though so I pushed the torque tube over and it went right in.
I found the drivers side was easy. No removing the steering linkage or the ground strap.
Don't tighten both headers to the engine before installing the mid-pipe or you won't get it together. I'd also recommend you get a second set of nuts and double nut the collector bolts while you're under there.
*update* Just a quick update, had to lift the pass side engine in order to fit. Everything went well from there. Until when i started putting the x pipe on. The pipe tends to lean more to driver side(almost touching the tunnel). So tomorrow im going to my friends work to let me borrow his lift to solve this and put on my stingers so i want to thanks to all of you who helped me.
Well, we got the car up higher, removed all of the wiring and the pass side went on. No jacking the engine and mine has lowered mounts to boot. It had to be twisted just right.
I am just test fitting as mine are used and don't look quite so hot anymore. I will be having them coated.
I have to say, fit is excellent!
Mine hit the AC pipe. I had to jack the engine. No big deal.
I forgot about this. I bent the hard pipe coming off the compressor to get the line up against the frame and away from the header. I reached in the wheel well with a bar clamp and pulled the line up to the frame.
It hit right on the rubber part of the line. The line has a heat wrap on it but still I highly doubt it would survive any direct contact.
