Default Confusion with minor window height adjustment

I have some wind noise on my drivers side and read thru the tip-in and height adjustment instructions. The tip-in was super easy but after 4 counter clockwise turns it still has some noise so i would like to raise the window just a slight amount.

The problem is i see no 18mm screw to do this under either the small plug at the front of the door nor the rear plug. At the rear plug with the window down i do see a small (maybe) 6mm hexagon screw that's connected to the glass assembly. At the front there is nothing at all, not under the smaller plug anyway. Anyone have pics that could help me out?

BTW: I fixed the creaking sound in the rear trunk area. It was the loudest noise made by the car and finally i found that the right side "latch catch" (best name i could think of) was adjusted so it made the trunk too tight when closed. Took the carpet patch that has the rear light in it out, loosened the 3 bolts and moved the latch catch just a little upwards and tightened. no more noise

You need to remove the door panel in order to see where the other areas are to make window adjustments.

The one at the front is under the plug. I have adjusted mine. You do need to put the window down. The adjustments are not a 18mm screw. I believe it's a reverse Torx.

You have to take the panel off to reach the adjustment screws. They are bump stops that can be adjusted by hand. They regulate the highth the window will role up. I learned this the hard way. Sry, no pics but there are plenty of forum posts on replacing the regulator that may have photos. You cannot reach them w/o removing the panel...that I know of.

OK, Ignore the posters telling you to pull the door apart. I can't find any pics showing the adjusters but i guarantee you 100% that there are adjuster screws accessible when you remove the 2 plugs on the bottom of the door. They are a reverse TORX, same as the end of the tip-in screw.

I'm pretty sure what you're describing is the rear one so you found it. As for the front. Try raising the window a bit and I think you'll find it by looking towards the rear of the hole. At any rate, it's there but it's not sticking out in the open right above the hole easy to see so just look harder.

There are a slotted holes on the regulator where you can make major adjustments but why would anyone pull the door panel to tweak the window when it's not necessary? The bump stops Ranger24 mentions are on the other end of the screws you can access from the bottom of the door.

Yes, back them out and the window will go up higher.

Did you find the front adjuster?

Was the advice to rotate counter-clockwise to raise window height correct?

Is it safe to do ten or more complete turns of the adjusters?

I have made two or three turns on rear adjuster but don't see any change.

Cheers, Andy

How much do you need to move?

The OP had asked about tweeking the adjustment so he wasn't looking for a big adjustment. I went from not touching the lip in the weatherstrip to pushing into the lip like the window should be. It was around an 1/8" of movement.

I'm not sure how much adjustment you'd have. It would really depend on where they were placed from the factory or if they get adjusted at the factory.

Well done for picking this up and thanks for the reply!

I got a new targa top a couple of years ago which I have adjusted as best I can but pax window still a bit short and drivers window just catches plastic clip as I close the door.

So 1/8 " up on one, and down on the other, would be sufficient.

Counter clockwise was counter intuitive - I went the other way when I tried the pax window - will try again

Cheers, Andy
