Re: Tell me about a Hypertech POWER PROGRAMMER III (2000RagTop)
I was warned not to waste my money. If you ever want to do any future programming with say LS1 Edit, Powerloader, ect, it is useless. You cannot simply reflash the PCM over the top of your HPIII changes.

That's even more true of custom programming like Fastchip and Powerloader which cannot be transferred.

That's not accurate, although you wouldn't want to do that any way. You'd want to recover the flash so you could resell the unit.
The HPP3 is a decent entry level tuning option, particularly if you can snag one on the used market. You can recover some of your investment costs by selling should you need to step up to more sophisticated tuning at a later date. This is not true of any other programming to my knowledge.
Re: Tell me about a Hypertech POWER PROGRAMMER III (2000RagTop)
2000RagTop,
Need to know what you're looking for as someone mentioned above. I like mine. Did wonders for the shift firmness and shift points as well. Between the programmer and intake mod I gained 10 rwhp (verified on dyno). The SOTP feel is a lot better and my passengers head even snaps back when the the shift's take place. But, back to the issue, what are you looking for?
Re: Tell me about a Hypertech POWER PROGRAMMER III (2000RagTop)
Actually, it works quite well. I use it, and for a MN6 it's worthwhile, for an A4 it's even better. A friend has autotap and LS1 Edit, we have compared a LOT of programs, stock and custom by tuners I shall not name, but you know them, and on our motors the HPP III worked as well or better. Plus you have the option to change back to stock for the dreaded dealer visit, and can change options whenever you like, WITHOUT sending out your PCM (and turning your Vette into a big paperweight till it gets back)
Re: Tell me about a Hypertech POWER PROGRAMMER III (QuickSilver97)
I have dynoed before and after on my 99 T/A and 99 vette. The "power program" did nothing!! In addition, they sold me a product claiming the 3.42 gear set change would would work, IT WILL NOT. IMO it's a low tech piece.
You can do better with other tuning.
Re: Tell me about a Hypertech POWER PROGRAMMER III (2000RagTop)
I use it for the shift firmness and to turn the fans on earlier since I swapped out the t-stat for a 178. - I think my car runs better with the latest GM reflash than with the HPP3 power tune.
I like the shift firmness feature because a lot of the time I drive pretty mellow and the computer learns that and shifts like a granny for me.:)
