I need to get the diff out of my 99 FRC (snaped the rt side output shaft on stickys at the track) and looked at all the post refering to this subject. Cajundudes info I could not retrive but read a couple posts were you don't have to disconnect T/T from motor. Is this possible with out damaging fire wall or anthing else? I am doing it on floor jacks in my garage. Couldn't find a good write up on this method.
You do not have to disconnect the t/tube from the motor or bell housing.
Just lower every thing enough to remove the cradle & then pull the diff., from the tranny
I'll see if I can pm you the Cajundude instructional.
His instructional is what I used, when I pulled mine.
Good luck
Thanks. I have the cradle off and tranny on jack, but was afraid to lower it too much, couldn't get it to clear the output from tranny. Did you take off exhaust and tunnel cover?
Yes, you must disconnect the coupling from the throttle body to the CAI
( cold air induction)
I have long tubes & I had the t/plate removed & the x pipe off.
You don't have to come down as far as you might think. When you have the diff slid back just over 3/4 of the way out, you can pivot it down and off to the side like I did. Do this very carefully to avoid scarring the shaft or ring gear.
As the above posts say, make sure you disconnect the accordion intake tube from the throttle body, plus keep an eye on the clearance between the shifter box on the torque tube and the fuel lines that run on the drivers side of the tunnel underneath it!
