Default My new engine is using/losing oil...>

I'm told in the C3 forum, that the C5's are having my problem?

The new motor in my 1977 corvette is losing/using oil somehow?
The rebuilt 350/383 has 850 miles on the motor, was holding oil just fine until 500 miles, then I lost/used 2 quarts since? There is not a drop of oil on the ground and it's not burning any kind of smoke. Oil pressure is/was excellent 40/75 until two quarts low. I replaced the oil and pressure is good again.
So, what can this be? Anyone...:(

This quote sent me here:

Sounds like the same thing that the C5'ers have been going thru. Your rings have not seated and is burning such a small quanity of oil that you can't really see the smoke but you can see the drop on the dip stick. It should go away but could take 1000 miles. Do a search on the C5 forum and you can read all about it.

i don't know what's wrong but I do have a question.

How have you been driving the car?

i bought my car with 53 miles on the o.d. and the first 1500 miles I drove like her like I stole her.
I also went through two quarts of oil :D

I did an oil change at 500, 2000 and 5000 miles with mine. I pampered it from the 2000-5000 interval and didn't lose a drop. Now I go through about a quart every 1000 miles but I drag race and drive mine fairly hard.

Hope this helps
