Dead battery = steering wheel lock FIXED !!
Had a dead battery..Installed new one got this dreaded thing....Disconnected neg terminal on battery, waited then connected it...Turned can on still got the SWL on the DIC...Pulled key for 10 seconds, still no fix...Then turned the wheel hard side to side hard..Presto it was fixed...Hope this may help someone else with similar problem

Yeah man. I got the same thing. Replaced the 6 month old Walmart battery with a duralast gold from Auto zone. Got the same message, I took out my frustration on the steering wheel and presto just like you started working. I check and the owner before be got the GM recall installed. I got to figure out how to get it back to stock and then install the CLB. Forum says thats the way to go.
