I lost a lobe on my Comp cam last month, which led to a rebuild on my 250k mile stock short block. Of course while the engine was out.... I may have made a mistake when I asked my wife to pick out the next cam for my C5 engine re-build. We had a little debate where I was trying to convince her that size doesn't matter. I lost the debate... again...
Her indiscretion led to the intake valve now being too close to the piston. So I had to buy an in-head piston notch plunge cutter from Lindy Tools to make some room:
Now with .095" p-t-v clearance we are back on speaking terms. I just wish that I had let her pick out the crankshaft too. Maybe after another 250k miles I'll build the bigger cubic inch engine that I "need".
