Default C1293 :(

Well my car is in a constant state of throwing C1293.

About 1000 KM ago I changed out my ECBM as it was throwing the active handling/abs codes.

What does C1293 do when it's on? Just shuts the active handling off? Anything else?

I'm wondering what the first thing I should do to try and diagnose this. Should I try another ECBM?

Brake switch working?

DTC C1293 DTC C1291/C1292 Set in Current or Previous Ignition Cycle

Circuit Description
This DTC is the second portion of DTC C1291. If DTC C1291 occurred during an ignition cycle, DTC C1293 becomes a current malfunction during the next ignition cycle, keeping TCS disabled until a brake switch on state is seen. When a change is seen during an ignition cycle in which DTC C1293 is a current malfunction, DTC C1291 will clear itself at the end of the current ignition cycle, and TCS will enable itself at the start of the next ignition cycle. DTC C1293 alone indicates DTC C1291 occurred previously, but is intermittent, or has been corrected.

Conditions for Setting the DTC
DTC C1293 is set when DTC C1291 was set in the previous or current ignition cycle.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets
ABS remains enabled, TCS/ Active Handling™ (if equipped with RPO JL4) are disabled.

Indicators that turn on: Car Icon (TCS indicator
Messages displayed on the DIC: Service Traction System Service Active HNDLG (if equipped with RPO JL4)
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
Condition for DTC is no longer present and scan tool clear DTC function is used.
Fifty ignition cycles have passed with no DTCs detected.
Diagnostic Aids
It is very important that a thorough inspection of the wiring and connectors be performed. Failure to carefully and fully inspect wiring and connectors may result in misdiagnosis, causing part replacement with reappearance of the malfunction.
An intermittent malfunction is most likely caused by a poor connection, rubbed through wire insulation, or a wire that is broken inside the insulation.
Also, verify proper stoplamp switch operation using the Data List of the scan tool. As the brake is applied, the data list should display the stoplamp switch on within 1 inch of travel.
If an intermittent malfunction exists refer to Testing for Electrical Intermittents in Wiring Systems.

My first post was for a 2000 but after looking at your profile it seems you have a 2001 so this changes things. It could be due to the brake fluid pressure sensor. The link below describes the dtc.

Do a search for C1293 for a little more infor.

Yeah I've read into it quite a bit...
A whole new BMPV seems like a very expensive fix...

I guess I should try and find someone with a scan tool.

In the mean time it's JUST turning off the active handling right? ABS and all that stuff still work?
