Remove inner spring with new cam?
I was just reading through comp cams cam install procedures and it says after installing the cam that the inner spring inside a dual spring should be removed for about 30 minutes of running?
FYI, my springs already have 1,000 miles on them as I did heads before I did the cam.
Heads are PRC Stage 2.5 5.3L heads with their PRC .650" dual spring

when you break in a flat tappet cam like on the old SBC or BBC motors you have to run the motor at high rpms for 30 mins to wear the flat bottom lifter into the lobe of the cam. to cut down on high spring pressure you only use the single spring. Our roller lifter cams do not require this. I put new heads and cam in my 72 454 with open sidepipes. the noise for 30 mins in my garage was ungodly.
