Recently purchased a stock 2000 Vert/6 spd with 86k on the odo. Just installed cat back B&B exhaust. Getting ready to install a cold air box or something that will get more air in it.
After doing these 2 things, will I be running the car too lean? I have looked at purchasing a tuner that would correct this problem but I am not wanting to change out the thermostate or have to run premium fuel all the time. I know I should be running premium all the time now but it runs just fine now without any pinging.
Does someone make a tuner that can adjust the A/F ratios without having to change the thermostate or run premium?

Those are two of the most common mod....no tuning required. If you start running lean(for whatever reason)....the PCM will let you know.
Catbacks are for sound.. No performance difference at all if you still have the stock exhaust manifold and converters.. You may actually lose a few hp.
So you want to install a cold air box for a few more horsepower, but lose even more horsepower by running on 87 octane? Premium gas is 30 cents more a gallon or $5.60 a tank more than 87 octane.. These engines were designed to run on premium fuel
Yep if you run 87 octane, your pcm will kick you into the low octane table, pull timing and your car will be about a 1/2 second or more slower in the quarter mile. I have personally tested this at the track. And on a scanner. Car also just feels sluggish
