Default Lsi cam sensor values....

Anyone know if the LS1 Cam sensor has the same electronic properties as the LS2 and newer sensors have? I am trying to find out if you could bore a hole in an LS1 front cover in the proper position and install the LS1 sensor? I believe that they are different as far as the wiring harness plugs are concerned, but don't know if the sensor would actually interface electronically with the ECM. Thank you.

To install and LS2, which does use the front cam position sensor it is a simple wiring harness swap, but I don't know how critical the distance is from the sensor to timing gear. Inductive sensors can be finicky depending on the distance it is from the metal pickup. It's not something I would try when you can simply go out and get another cover.

No, it's not that simple. The LS2 cover has a boss cast into the cover, which accepts the sensor, and attachment point.
