I'm scoping out a sub 10k mile c5z with a procharger, but I've immediately noticed that it has some issues. Firstly, the only thing done to this z has been the procharger, which supposidly puts 540hp to the rear wheels, and an exhaust system. What has NOT been done to it are breaks, rotors, or suspension.
So my question is, if I purchase this vehicle, is it correct assume that I should be investing in a break/rotor combo immediately? It's my understanding that the stock dual piston fronts and single piston rears aren't speced for the stopping power required of a 500+ hp Z... and this is a significant saftey concern.
Any other tips would be greatly welcomed. This isn't my first Corvette, but it's my first Z, so I don't know all the signs to look for.
I would upgrade the pads if your concerned and drive smart. Lots of people are running more power with stock calipers than that car and they are still alive
What should be done depends on how you will use it. If you drive ike a scared little old lady on the streets you will need to do nothing to the car. If you want to race it you will need to do the rest of the drivetrain, suspension and BRAKES.
BRAKES stop the car, which, if highly modified, can BREAK quite often.
You need to stop listening to whoever told you the brakes are insufficient and dangerous. That is just plain wrong. Factory c5 brakes are actually quite good and if your concerned just put in a performance pad with good fluid and stainless lines.

If you feel the need after that you can swap over to C6 Z51 rotors and brackets!
But the RWHP makes no difference in brakes, if you go 150 MPH in a stock Vette or a 150 MPH in a blown Vette it makes no difference whatsoever
Whom ever said they were inefficient needs to recheck and re-evaluate what they are saying!

You're alot more subtle than me. Kudos....
About the brake problem; You have no problem. You should worry about the clutch, differential, and the rest of the driveline first.
