I purchased a new alternator about 8 months back and then had my engine rebuilt. I noticed I had coolant leak and got it fixed. My alternator is sqeaking bad when I drive and get above 1500rpms. I replaced the belt yet it still sqeaks and sometimes when I drive for awhile on a highway an get off if the car sits for awhile it starts to idle very rough and makes a loud ticking and sqeaking noise. Can anybody help me on how to fix this? I think maybe some antifreeze got in the alternator.
sounds like you need to have the problem isolated so somebody can help you. Take it to a trusted corvette mechanic.
the issue could be with one of the pulleys.
remove the a/c belt to start isolating.
I cannot explain your rough idle but the squeek is common with idler pulleys or balancer pulley. Is your balancer grooves running straight or wobble a lot?

If you're sure it is the alternator all you can do is replace it or get it rebuilt.
