Ok so I changed the murkey stock fluid in my clutch slave for no reason other than to clear it up and have peace of mind. A few days later I notice that my clutch occasionally squeeks when the pedal is depressed. I changed to DOT4 Valvoline synthetic brake fluid. Did GM have an "anti-squeek" compound in their DOT3 fluid that they used?
Hi there,
Yes, the clutch fluid is different from the brake fluid that you may use.
The GM part numbers are in your owners manual, for the clutch fluid, and your brake fluid.
Flush it out, and I am sure that you will be fine.

Well the latest rumor I heard was that the anti-squeek compound in their basic DOT3 fluid is what breaks down due to heat, and the resulting compound reacts with the rubber seals and causes the murky substance floating around.
So I wonder now if it is in anyway detremental to the system NOT to use their fluid, but to use a quality DOT3 or DOT4 brake fluid.
The excate same thing happened to me after changing fuild. I bleed the system and the squeak was still there. I removed the bellhousign inspection cover and found it was the big spring around the slave housing that was squeaking. I wd-40ed it and the problem went away.
