Default Need new AC belt

Mine is squealing like a pig and it's rather embarrassing. lol...

Anyone know what part number or size I need to replace this belt?

thinking about a gatorback belt. I think it's autozone that sells them?

Thanks!

ps - I hope it's not a pulley, and it's the belt. when I spray belt conditioner, it goes away for a few days, but comes back when it's rainy. And it's been raining alot... lol

Thanks!

edit - found this one, but I don't see gatorback http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...09_17895_8238_

will any 42" belt do?

Dear God, no. Did you look at the a/c belt? It's nowhere near 42".

The Gatorback A/C belt for my 2001 LS1 was part number 4040420 - fit perfectly.

I couldn't take it anymore and cut mine off last week...the noise was just embaressing to the point walkers at lights would come to my car and question wtf

Pulled the idler pully and tensioner off....the idler bearing spins like a roller blade (the culprit!). New one will not continue to spin freely by hand. Tensioner spins freely but no rattle noise (going to die).

Now the bitch to install pulleys and remove main serp belt for the A/C belt. Sure is quiet with no A/C belt and maybe a few more ponies.

Hell....I never use the A/C anyways

I've had the same problem - the squealing had steadily been getting worse over the past few summers. Cleaning the pulleys and spraying with Brake Cleaner (and adding a dap of silicone grease on the belt) helped temporarily, but the problem just came back.

Replacing the idler pulley (per a TSB issued for the noise issue) was just a waste of $$$ (bought the part at a local GM Dealer - Argh!) as was replacing the main drive and A/C belts with the Delco brand.

The one thing I did notice was a VERY slight amount of play in the power steering pump shaft, which more or less seemed to be where the noise was coming from. I was at the point of pulling the pump (huge pain to get to) and decided to try using the Gatorback belt on the main accessory drive.

Worked like a charm! No idea what the root cause really is, but the belt switch sure helped.
