Well I've seen it happen to others and always hoped it wouldn't happen to me. Last weekend I went to the drags and ran 12:40, 12:13, 12:04 and then at the end of the night finally hit 12:00 at 113.7. As a normal red blooded fool I just had to crack into the 11's. So yesterday I went back out to the track, ran a 12:42 the first pass at 107, thought maybe it was just the air or the surface. Then my second run I got right to the end of the track and WHAMO large puffs of mist followed by the most god aweful grinding from up front, then the coup de gras engine lock. I have water in the oil, oil all over the place with large amounts of aluminum shavings. Just thought I would lament this on the forum, not for sympathy just to write it down. Maybe in a couple of months she will rise and live again. :cry :cry :nonod:
So far we have not been able to look at it as it is pitifully sitting in the garage. I saw the video tape of it and right at the end of the run there was a large cloud of what must be water since there was a huge stench of radiator fluid, we assumed haed gasket at that point. When I noticed the cloud I was right at 113MPH, I slowed the car as fast as I could before shutting it of for need of steering at the end of the track. I assume that the water was in the cylinders just long enough to cause some compression issues. The oil was all over the lower part of the car and had considerable amount of metal flakes and even chunks. We will take a better look when we get back from Mem. Weekend.
Sorry to hear this. I almost went out to the track last Friday, it would have been the first time since moving to Tulsa. What happened exactly? Hope you get back in the saddle again soon.
