If i already have a cam, springs, roller rockers, oil pump, heads, timing chain, and all the gaskets. How much should it cost to have a company install all that and do a dyno tune?
Whatever profit they would have made off of the sale of the components you have listed added to the hourly rate. And you will have a tough time getting the shop to stand behind the parts installation because they didn't supply the parts. You might find someone who will do it but it won't be easy IMHO. Good Luck .,
I'm going to have to agree here. Ideally, it would be nice for someone to install the parts you supply, but I wouldn't want to install sub par parts that could be tied to their name.
I'm not saying your parts are sub standard, but for the example, you have to see it from their side also.

Perhaps you should have sorted out those details before purchasing the parts.

always such a jerk to people.
OP call around. I did the exact same thing. I purchased every part I needed and found 5 shops here in FL that had no problems installing them for me. For a complete head/cam install plus tune the average quote was 2500 bucks.
thanks guys!, What i got is: PAC springs, slp timimg set, ARP head bolts, 243 heads, comp cam, crane 1.7 gold rockers, ported oil pump and all felpro gaskets. and they are supplying the torque converter, oil cooler, install of all the parts and a dyno tune for $4500, is that to much?
See if there are any guys local to you with a good rep that has already done it before will help you do it. You'd be surprised. A lot of people with the skills (not shop) are very willing to help.
Just understand and be willing to accept that as with anything, there's going to be a certain amount of risk involved and things can go wrong regardless who does the work. Get the instructions and follow them to a "t" and chances are, you'll be fine. Ive done 3 cam and 2 head swaps now (with and without help).
Dont be afraid of failing. If you can read, follow instructions, improvise when necessary, and stay calm, it's not that difficult. Take the money you'd spend having someone do the install and invest in some tools. That way you'll always have the tools if you ever need them again.

Don"t forget a cooler for the trans. Are they going to stand behind the work....guarantee?

yea, i could do it my self, my only fear is ill do the push rods and rockers wrong cause i have fully adjustable rockers and dont really know how to do them. but thanks guys for the replys. im gonna way my options lol
What is their hourly rate? In this neck of the woods $120.00 an hour and with the trans parts and related the price seems fair to me. (I'm in the service business myself). You can always talk to them and work out a agreed upon quote if you find it to high. Once you talk to them and see whats involved and they know what you expect I'm sure an agreement can be reached.
