Default maintenance at 10k miles?

my 01 vert has finally hit 10,000 miles and although i have had the requisite oil changes, i have to admit that i have been a little behind in taking care of the car recently with work being so busy. i used to wax that thing three times a week and not have a speck of brake dust or road tar. my question is, what kind of maintenance should i have done on the car at this mileage? i received a notice from the dealer saying that it is time for a "9000 mile" tune up for my c5. what does this consist of, if i need at all?

also, anybody in chicago have a heads/cam package or nitrous (OH I'M SURE THERE ARE :yesnod:  ) that would be willing to show me just how crazy it is, and get me hooked on the mod bug once and for all.

The 9000 mile service is basically there to enhance the dealer's finances. At that mileage, all you need is to ensure you're current on your oil changes. There really is nothing else.

Save your money for the mods. (Or, if you're like me, save it for gas.)

Give the dealer some money to he can check and see if you have any lose belts. He may even add an oil change and see if your spark plug wires are still attached.

Send your dealer a donation, and keep your vette at home.

Your dealer will thank you, and so will your vette!

As long as you have changed the oil regularly and kept the tire pressures where they ought to be, I think you have done all you really have to. You might want to check for any fluid leaks. I do get nervous about the condition of the air cleaner and by the time you check it, you might as well change it. It doesn't amount to much and is pretty easy to change. Unless your operating in extremely dusty conditions, I would recommend servicing the air cleaner about every 20,000 miles. Cured that problem however with the installation of a Donaldson BlackWing.

And run your car over to a good tire shop to see if the tires show uneven wear due to misalignment. :flag

My dealer has already scratched my car twice. Once resulting in a trip to the paint booth...and I change my own oil...

I bring it to the dealer only when I absolutely, positively have to. :nonod:
