I just got my CCW wheels today for my '01 Z06 with 18x11.5's with 335's out back and they are rubbing the inner fender well pretty good. Has anyone else had this problem? My car is lowered a bit in the rear, (I can fit 2 fingers between the tire and body), but does this mean I have to raise the car up more to avoid this? My impression was that these wheels would not rub at all and so hopefully I can figure out what to do. I haven't spoken to John@CCW about this, but will tomorrow and we'll see what he says. Thanks.
Re: CCW wheels put on today = Rubbing!!! (CMilVette)
Try to find exactly where they rub.
Even when you tub, you'll trim off some of the plastic fender skirt areas. Don't go too crazy trimming tho, but if it's a small area, you can get away with it. Try to find exactly what's rubbing & where. Any rubbing pics?
Re: CCW wheels put on today = Rubbing!!! (MelloYellow)
If you are running 335 they must stick out a bit, i have the 17x11.5 with the 315's and have no rubbing and they do not stick out at all, perfect fit. I think to fit the 335 the must be offset outwards or tubbed. John has a lot of experiance.
It's rubbing the plastic fender skirt right at the top of the tire. The tire is contacting the plastic piece in about a 10 inch area. You can easily see the outline/scrapes where the tire is contacting it. Every minor bump I hit they rub.
Actually these wheels don't stick out that much at all. I'd say almost 1/2 inch from the fenders. I'll try and get some pics up tomorrow of the wheels and where they are rubbing.
Re: CCW wheels put on today = Rubbing!!! (tscales)
I've always heard that any tire bigger than a 315 you'll have to tubb the rear. Their are companies that make a bolt in inner fender well to incorporate the bigger tire. It also depends which offset rims you have because we tried to put 315's on a C-5 and they rubbed. The car wasn't even lowered that much. Might try Lingenfelter Performance, Ecklers, or Mid America for the tubbs.
The top forward area of the tire hit my fender skirt after tubbing. On the fender skirt, it was the inside lowest front section.
We could see the tire rub marks. We cut it with a dremel an area about the size of my hand. Re-tapped a new sheet metal screw to somewhere new. Problem was gone. The flexible rubber/plastic is easy to cut.
Pics of the rubbing area may confirm if we're talking about the same spot.
Re: CCW wheels put on today = Rubbing!!! (HPS Z06)
Not sure if this is a helpful comparison. My car is not lowered.
I have 17x12 in back, with Kumho 335's. Stock ride height. When the suspension compresses (and it doesn't do that very much) there is an ever so slight rub against the fender well (upper inner short wall - vertical piece). Not a problem, I just know the clearance is tight.

A good number of Z06s need to remove the rear brake cooling duct. It can push the inner fender (ever so slightly) out into the tire, or the tire rubs on the duct itself. What back spacing are you running?

John called me up today to talk about my rubbing situation and here is what we're going to do. First off I've never had my car re-aligned after lowering it and so the camber may be out in the rear which could help promote the rubbing. Secondly I will try raising the car up a bit to see what that does. If none of those really fix the problem then I may try a spacer, but I'd rather just go ahead and minitub the car. Monday or Tuesday of next week I'm taking the car in to check out the alignment. I'll keep everyone updated on what happens
