I plan on having my 4l60e. Built in a couple weeks and was curious how far to go on it. I'm roughly 450rwhp. Would a normal performance rebuild kit work or Should I do the 5planetary?
I have read that the 4 planetaries are fine. But I just bet RPM or whoever will want to do the 5's. They are semi drop in replacements.
One outfit I called said at that power level you need the 5 pins, hardened input and output shafts. He wanted my money. He sounded drunk on the phone.
haha i'll have to keep researching a little. i planned on doing the 5pin upgrade with monsters big kit, which says is good for like 700hp. but this project is costing more than planned also. more than likely i'll do the 5pin but just curious if it wasnt worth it for my power level.
Weigh how much more it will cost and compare it to the odds of you adding more HP. I am an advocate of planning for the future if you are already going to have it apart.
Are you planning on a local shop or using one of the sponsor's? I build transmissions for a living and will shoot a parts list to ya, but if you are using a sponsor they build some awesome transmissions and you won't need the list. Let me know if I can assist (advice)
