Got this message a few times at the track Thursday. I did a little research and it looks to be related to the steering column lock. The car is track only, and I'm a c-hair from gutting it as it is anyway. Has anyone ever completely removed the motor and locking assembly, or welded it open, or some other extreme and permanent measure to physically block it from locking? I read the FAQ but there isn't any info on actually removing it.
For the archives here's what I was looking for. I'm talking about physically removing the lock. Don't like the idea of anything being able to lock my steering wheel while on track, whether it's activated by vibration or a ghost in the machine. I don't trust the electronic solutions by themselves.
Well the locking can be stopped, but it is also followed by "Fuel cut off 2 miles" it's built into the security if a Column Steering Wheel Lock occurs.
My advise is either get the LMC5 kit ($38) and install it at the BCM or you can also try the CLB kit and install that under the steering wheel. I picked the LCM5, go to "Compliance Parts" and read up on it, it is simple and eliminates the stock wiring of the dreaded column solenoid.
