Convert always on 12v Power Outlets
I have as many as 3 things plugged in at a time using both outlets so it is a pain to plug and unplug them every time I get in and out of the car.
I like to change the 2 power outlets in the car so they turn off when the car is off.
Anyone know of a good way to do this?
I was thinking I could manually add a switch and mount it in the ashtray or something. Maybe there is an easier way?

To make the cigarette lighter switched with the key you pull fuse 7 and then connect the yellow and orange wires on the 3-wire connector that is in the passenger footwell. It should be tucked in there with a taped off pigtail. If I recall it's to the left side by the body control module. Make sure you don't install fuse 7 again.
You could make the console plug switched by pulling fuse 1 and jumpering the dead side of fuse 1 to the dead side of fuse 7. You could use 2 blade connectors on the ends of a piece of wire. Check for the dead side with the key off.

Great info! Thank you! I got impatient and ended up soldering the 2 ground wires together and then ran them to a switch I mounted in the ashtray well.
I may go back later and re do it using your method.
