Just was informed that my fuel filter at the tank is leaking. The Vette only has 12000 miles on it. Bought it month and half ago at 9800 miles, have done nothing to fuel line or filters or any mods close to the problem. Is there any reason why a leaky fuel filter would occur this soon? Did I get a bad deal at the dealership? Was told the warranty will not cover it...I got the extended warranty. Bullpoopie or what?! Please advise. :smash: :bs
Is it the external filter, or the internal sock? If its the external should be about 12.00 .. If that one is leaking, beware of a fire.. This is close to the exhaust pipes. The other ones are inside the tank and have a hard time with that one leaking. The car has low usage and things tend to dry out if not used..
Fuel was leaking under the car, beads hanging underside, drivers side about 4-5 inches in. I believe it is the external. Was told clips were claimed to be problem, running from filter. Something poked a whole in the line, as claimed by mech. Costs under $100. I asked about the internal sock, reply was no. $12.00????? Are you sure? Did I just get reamed?
external fuel filter is 12.00 at parts store. i just got one ;ac delco too. you got ripped plain and simple. if they had to replace the fuel line then you could expect additional costs. don't know how that punture ???could happen though .Any one ever change out the exhaust?
If someone tried to change the fuel filter without the proper quick disconnect removal tools, it could very easily have holed the line and damaged it severely.
As stated, new filter is not expensive, and the QD disconnect removal tools are available at any auto parts store for under 10 bucks. Then find the writeup on the net for the replacement (I think there's one on this forum) and do the work yourself, it's not hard.
