Looking for some opinions here... I have a 99 coupe with about 32k miles or so. I lowered it on the stock F45 suspension about 7 years ago with around 10k miles or so. I also changed the wheels and tires then. Clearly I do not drive it that much but I just recently inspected the front tires. I baby the car and the tires always looked like they had minimal wear at least from looking from behind the car and from the sides when looking at the fronts.

I just finished detailing the car and had it off the ground and noticed that the front tires have inner wear on them. I believe it is due to the car settling over the years after I have lowered it and aligned. I do notice on the highway at higher speeds that the wheels tends to have a little movement to it. Almost as it is riding on only a portion of the front tires as we now know it is based on the wear I am seeing. The car does not pull and the car tracks straight down the road.

I am wondering the following....

Should I just get it aligned or do I need to consider swapping out the F45 shocks for something else?

I really do not want to change the shocks as I do not mind the ride as it is. I also do not want to start messing around with and figuring out how to bypass the F45 system to avoid issues with errors being displayed on the DIC.

Thanks...

If its just wearing evenly on the inside of the tires it should be a negative camber issue and an alignment will fix it. If you feel movement from the wheels?? Maybe its time to have the ball joints and other suspension part inspected.

I checked the front. There is no play in bearings, ball joints, etc... What I feel is a tiny shimmy at higher speeds which I think has to be due to the negative camber.

Shimmy sounds as though in need of wheel/tire balancing.

Inside wear, more than likely from improper/out of allignment.

Once the above issues have been taken care of get a tire thread indicator & keep a better/ closer watch of wear across the threads.

Something else to consider....how old are the tires? Sounds like you don't drive the car very often, and due to age, as well as sitting in one position for extended periods, the tires are beginning to go bad.

And yes, the car will also "settle" over time, but as has already been mentioned, an alignment should remedy that.
