My car's battery drains in 2 or 3 days. I changed the Altenator and batt (Diehard Gold) but it still drains....... no lights, fans, ect are on. Any ideas how to troubleshoot a problem like this.......really don't know where to begin.
I'm brand new to the Las Vegas area so I don't have any contacts as to where to go yet. Any suggestions will be appreciated

Hi Keith,
Welcome to Vegas, how do you like it so far? I would start checking things like the vanity mirrors on driver & passenger visors. I had a problem with current draw from there and found one of them to stay on even though it was closed. There is a small nub on the piece that closes down onto the visor, which pushes in the on/off button switch and if it doesn't line up and is off a bit, the light stays on constantly! Look for little things like that as they can draw current over a few days to kill the battery, I believe.

You'll need a volt/ammeter and some time. If your car while running measures about 13v then your alternator is fine. If the battery was new and it is now dead that means something in the system is draining it. Could be a realy stuck open . You need to switch the meter to measure amperage and remove fuses of the car then place the meter on the circuit (where the fuse was) and see if there is any draw. If there is you need to find out what is on that circuit that is causing the draw and replace the defective part. Hope this helps.

Good idea on the mirrors. Also might want to check glove box light staying on too. Mine was doing that a long time ago. Didn't kill battery but I still fixed it anyway. I re-adjusted the switch so the door made better contact and turned the light off when closed. :)
