I hear this noise that sounds like a high pitched ticking sound. It is worse when the engine is warm. It is not noticeable when it is cold at all. I hear it primarily from the wheel well/under the car.
Is this a valve noise or an exhause leak...or a fuel injector.
Since it's easiest heard from under the car it should be an exhaust leak. If it was a fuel injector or the valvetrain it would be more predominant from above. Are you checking for the noise with the hood open or closed?
I'm checking for the sound with the hood both open and closed... You can hear it with the hood open but only if you cup your ear towards the driver's side exhaust manifold. I can't seem to locate the source with a stethoscope (i.e. it can't isolate the sound with a stethoscope by touching either the valve cover or the fuel injectors). I'm thinking (and hoping) that it is an exhause leak....do they usually sound worse when the car is warm?
I've never noticed an exhaust leak getting louder with engine temp...that sounds more like a lifter that's loosing strength as the oil thins out. Hopefully someone else will chime in.
If I were in your shoes I would look for carbon runs near the flanges or anywhere on the driver's side exhaust. If there aren't any then it must be something else. I hope you get it figured out soon.
