had my A/C charged. 2 days later, the A/C clutch starts screaming, smoking, throwing sparks.
I do remember he charged the high side to 250, and I didn't see the low side.
Could he have over charged it,and burnt my A/C clutch and compressor ?
250 is high. Systems I have worked on run below 200. Are the cooling fans running? Overcharging can cause the compressor to stall. What was the reason for adding refridgerant? I would unplug the compressor untill you can diagnose the problem.
250 PSI on the discharge side seems rather high. Without knowing the what the suction side pressure was, and also the ambient air temperature that day, it's hard to say for sure.
Did he add any refrigerant oil to the system to make up for any loss? If it was low on charge, most likely the refrigerant oil in the system was also low.
