I used an impact HD six point 34mm. & an impact gun to remove...
Not install w/impact.
A 33 mm, may fit a better.

I think it's 33mm, but 34mm will fit too. If you have a parts store with loaner tools nearby, get their front axle socket set. It should have a 34mm in it.

FWIW 1 5/16 is the same size if you can't find a metric. It's what I had in the box and worked fine. Air gun both ways for me. I'm too old & tired for yanking wrenches if I don't have to.

I know there are writeups on this but couple things I found. Unhook the tierod end first. This will allow swiveling the upright to get easy access to the caliper and bracket bolts. Unhook upper ball joint and the axle will remove from the hub once you get the angle right while pushing down on the lower arm. Then the lower ball joint nut is easy to get at if you want to completely remove the upright. I did because I was changing studs and needed the hub all the way out.

Another trick I've learned from working on other cars. Separate the tierods and ball joints with a sharp smack with a large hammer. Hit the casting 90 deg to the stud and it will pop loose. No damage to the joint or boot. I had both front and rear suspensions apart this way. Actually it was easier, being alluminum, than other cars I've worked on with cast iron knuckles.

Please spend $20 at harbor freight and get the ball joint separation tool and avoid bashing your suspension with a BFH. The part that slips around the ball joint neck needs to be opened up a little with a dremel tool to fit, but it works great.
