Default additional advice and diagnostic help please

a couple things I'm curious about

after putting in the MGW shifter today the airbag readiness indicator is on....there was an electrical connector hangin loose inside the consol just behind where the ash tray and cigerrette lighter are, but it wasn't the cigerette lighter connector...I could'nt figure out where the connector plugged so I left it as is for now...but now I am thinking that its possibly airbag related because of the indicator

also, what is that little yellow unit in the consol behind the ashtray area?

and finally....I have this high pitched whine that gets higher pitched the more I rev the engine, almost sound like a turbo unti but higher pitched....I was told it was the power steering pump going bad at the stealership so I had it replaced at West Coast Corvettes....after the change the whine appeared lessoned, but has returned and is louder than ever...any thoughts?

No telling on that connector without a photo. The yellow box behind the ash tray is the yaw sensor, measures the motion of the car so it knows if your turning & what kind of g force etc for the traction control system, works in conjunction w/ the steering wheel position sensor & ABS sensors etc.

You engine whine can be any number of things as well, bearing in AC, Alt, idler or tension pulley or even an air leak. Although that tends to set off a code due to MAF reading not matching engine RPM.

thanks, will post a pic tomorrow

guess I'll start with the tensioners on the high pitched whine, its hard to tell where its comming from exactly by listening with the hood open, but seems to be comming from the drivers side a bit more then the passenger side

also...what transmission fluid do you guys recomend, I'm slowly preparing the car for some HPDE track events....mostly just safety stuff and fluid upgrades besides the few basic upgrades I've already done.
