Re: bump steer kits for lowered c5's (nassau-hardtop)
I have the longer bolts in the rear, and I cut the fronts down ( 2 sections off ) and I have no problems. Give it a shot I see no reason for it. I recommend a alignment though. Good luck!! :D
Re: bump steer kits for lowered c5's (nassau-hardtop)
My car is very low, and I do have the "bump steer kit", which is really adjustable outer tie rod ends. This allows the geometery of the fron suspension to remain as it was, even after lowering. I drove 6 months lowered before getting it, and have not noticed a huge difference, but the tech who installed it when doing an alignment for me said it was a good idea, and that they were quality parts. Bought mine from Shawn at LAPD for $150.00. Hope this helps.
Re: bump steer kits for lowered c5's (nassau-hardtop)
My car is lowered. I did not feel that I need the "bump steer kit" which is just an adjustable tie rod end. Until that is, I got it installed. On normal highway stuff I do not notice the difference, but at the track and at autocross events on imperfect surfaces I definiely say it makes a difference.
Re: bump steer kits for lowered c5's (nassau-hardtop)
bumpsteer is the toe in changing as the suspension moves up and down. once you change the angle of the tie rods and they are not inline with the A frames you will get bumpsteer. :chevy
Re: bump steer kits for lowered c5's (MelloYellow)
the bump steer will be hard to measure with the spring in place because the suspension must move up and down thru the whole travel without the frame moving. :chevy

First Vette for me, and one of the first things I noticed is the bump steer on my stock height new C5. I plan on lowering, so it appears it will get worse. Not good in my book. You would think the engineers would not have included this free option. Guess I'll be looking at shelling out some coin for a "bump steer" kit before I lower.

Hmm.. the race shop seemed to think there was a way to do it with special jacks, but I have no idea myself how they were planning to do it.. They use jacks of some type while it's on the alignment rack.
