need some help guys, i bought a new key FOB for my car & a swear you need a PHD to program this thing. i read the instructions but i be damned if i can figure it out, has anyone out there every bought a new one & programmed it.
Provided you've got the right fob for your year (whatever that may be, not mentioned but the procedure is the same for all) it's very easy and takes about two minutes. It's in the owner's manual. If you don't have one, here are the correct instructions:
KEYFOB PROGRAMMING:
1) Turn ignition on
2) Turn radio off
3) Press Driver Information Center (DIC) RESET button
4) Press OPTIONS button on the DIC until display is blank
5) Press and hold RESET button for 3 seconds
6) Press OPTIONS button until FOB TRAINING is displayed
7) Press RESET button to begin programming sequence
Simultaneously press and hold LOCK and UNLOCK ( A & B )
buttons on first remote for 13 seconds until message
appears stating programming is complete. The computer
will ask to program second FOB. If you don't have a second
What does it mean if I replace the fob battery, reprogram, fob functions properly for a day and then quits?
Inquiring minds want to know.
It means you have a bad fob. You can try resoldering the connections or you can buy a new fob. There's a thread titled "legendary problem solved" that shows how to do it. I don't know what year your car is because you didn't say, but this seems to happen a lot on 2000's.
