Yes that is normal. And I couldn't stand it! Way too hot. No need for it. That's how they run with stock thermostat and fan settings. So I took out the stock 180 and put in a 160. Changed fan settings. Now it runs between 175 and 185. Perfect in my opinion. In case you don't know what those thermostat temps mean - A 180 BEGINS to open at 180, 160 BIGINS to open at 160. Some people are afraid of 160 because its too cold. It will never actually run at 160.

Even in the wintrer time? and does the engine perform better at those lower temps?

When the engine is running, the temps in winter (even subzero) will never be able to overpower the constant heat output from the engine in that tight space under the hood.
The engine performance is not exactly just magically better, but having the engine temps be that much cooler means the air getting pulled into the motor is also not getting super-heated as it is taken in. Cooler air is denser air which means more power due to better combustibility.
Ok I have changed the thermostat,to a 160.I quess the fans need to be reprogramed.
Also,I put a under size pulley on my 2000.now it is running around 205-215.Do these pulleys make them run this hot?
