ls6 intake install, what else do you need? plugs, pipe???
What else is needed to install a new LS6 intake on my 99 C5? I see that there is some type of plug, or plugs and a coolant pipe? Can you use anyother type of plug, or do you need the GM one I didn't know if it was just some normal pipe NPT thread plug I could get anywhere? Also, the coolant pipe, is it the same for the F bodies and the corvette? I just wanted to have everything I needed when I got the intake here. And I didn't want to buy anything that I didn't really need. Also, anybody have the GM part #'s for the plug/s and the correct coolant pipe for the corvette? Is the coolant pipe the same one that an LS6 uses? Thought about just getting it at my local dealer since he sells me stuff like that at his price.
Thanks, Damon

where did you by intake from ?? I got mine from SLP it came with everything needed . The coolant plugs are what you are refering to and they basically bypass the rear cooling chanel .

damon,
You do NOT need the coolant plugs to install this however it's MUCH easier and saves you about an hour or so of dremel-ing away the ribs to make them fit over the stock coolant pipe.
Contact Chris ( chriss@teamchev.com ) and tell him Levi Procter sent you for the following:
1x 2001 front coolant pipe - #12568478
2x 2001 rear coolant plugs - #12562788
Should only take you about an hour to install. I highly recommend this way of installing it. It's MUCH easier and less timing consuming. Some will tell you that using these coolant plugs restrict coolant flow to the rear two cylinders but this isn't true. All the '01 great LS1's have the same coolant plug setup so you're fine.
Also, when reinstalling the intake be VERY careful not to break the oil pressure sending unit on the back driver's side of the block. It's a short vertical tube sticking up. They can be broken off very easily if you're not careful and your oil pressure gauge may not work and you could leak oil out of the back of the sending unit depending on how it fractured off. They're about $25 to replace from Chris@TeamChevrolet.

You guessed it, Tuan. I had to put new heads on my youngest brother's '00 SS Z28 and he forced the intake back on and snapped it like a twig. Now if I had done it, no problems ;). However I witnessed it and it's a pain in the bum. Just good FYI's for others :D
