OK so if anyone else is like me. I like depending on my self. I REALLY dont like depending on electricity to roll my C5z's windows up. Has anyone converted to manual windows? Is there a kit or anything? Cause this riding around and my Drivers window not rolling down is retarted...
Even if I put a new motor and all in...I still want manual windows. I think the Z06 shoulda came that way anyway. If Chevy made the windshields thinner they coulda made a manual window option also. Has anyone done it?
In some of my reading and research I remember reading that Chevy looked at manual windows for the C5 and found they would cost as much as the power setup and weigh more, hence no manual windows in the FRC cars either.

I find that hard to believe, that a manual window system would cost more than the power set up.
I removed my power tracks on my Z's driver seat, & went manual a few years back.
Never had a problem with the power seat, just would rather have the manual seat.
I think that too, should have been standard on the Z's.

I think the word you were looking for is "retarded". I don't think anyone North of the Mason-Dixon line uses that word anymore.....I digress........
So let me get this straight. When your power windows were functioning correctly, you were obviously ok with not "depending on yourself". Now, that the window does not work, and you lack the expertise, knowledge, or funds to effect the correct repair.....you want to convert to manual windows?

That same kind of logic, in the past, led to many automatic chokes on carburetors being converted to hand chokes.
Converting power windows to crank-ups is just plain ridiculous!

Thats pretty interesting. The Power stuff cant weigh that much..

You dont know me buddy. No where in this thread did it say anything about me not having the expertise, knowledge OR funds to fix the problem. Here's a little about me. I don't like power windows. When they break down and it rains its no good. With manual windows you can just roll the window up....
Its almost like alot of guys on this forum just HAVE to be talking sometimes. Your post had no positive contribution to this thread at all. Maybe you just want attention. Im here for you buddy!

It's an open forum sweetheart..... The more goofy the subject matter, the more diverse the response. I don't need your attention, but I do thank you for the entertainment all the same.

I want a push button on the dash automatic and fins.
I want to yank my engine out and wrap a harness around the front bumper and attach two horses at the other end..Know as a 22 horse engine.
All kidding aside,GM show at least have a way to be able to disconnect it from the motor incase it takes a **** while the window is down and it start to rain.
Electric windows are usually lighter than a mechanical setup. The mechanical windows have a big elaborate scissoring type lift in the door along with the tracks. You have to put the handle mechanism in a place that is easy to reach, making the system much more complicated. Electric switches can be mounted anywhere.
Personally, I like power windows when I want to roll the passenger side window down and I'm driving. It's just a whole lot easier. If your passenger has gas, you can give them a burst of fresh air in a second and you don't even have to ask.
I think the problem is that most of the forum members (from my perspective) dont dirve their cars in the rain, so it is not a problem for them.
I drive mine in the rain all the time and have not had any trouble with any electronics. The only time I had any trouble was one day we had a temperature swing of something around 50 degrees and condensation was on everything when I went to take my car out. All I had to do was replace a couple fuses, heck it fried two or three sensors on my sisters car that day...
