Default Kooks 1 7/8" Headers in C5 Interference

I am installing a set of Kook's 1 7/8" primary headers in my C5. The passenger side hits at the point where the floor and the firewall come together. The two pieces come together and go toward the front of the car and are spot welded. Kooks indicated to trim the piece but not into the weld. I have tried to loose and readjust the parts with no luck. Anyone else have this issue? How did you fix it? I really don't want to cut the car if I don't have to.

Thanks,

Mark

I still have the stock manifolds, but I have read about all I can over the past few years about the install issues with the varous brands and sizes of headers...I'm probably going to choose LG long tubes with high flow cats, but your Kooks are the other good choice and would be happy to own them myself. What you are experienceing is very typical of any of the larger diameter tube headers. The only solutuion is to make the trim..no big deal in the long run, it won't ruin your resale value or structutraly weaken the car. I suspect I might run into the same problem when I get my headers. Our Corvettes are really tight for space around the engine..even changing some of the spark plugs is a real chore...it is amazing that we can even get the high performance headers that are out there to fit. Your gonna love it when these are finally in..I have experienced the before and after header install in friends C5s, so I know that they are worth every minute of grief and busted knuckes to get them in. Best wishes, and good REVs to you....Jennifer
