I bought 2 qrts of oil for the rear diff. Didn't have a pump, but had a long tube and used the squeeze method. Well I was able to get all 2 qrts in without it over flowing from the fill hole. Also had a nozzle with butterfly wings to grip onto the threads so it doesn't back out of the hole. This is on a 03 Z06. Am I safe to drive it with both bottles 99% all the way in there?
Oh crap just realized when filling it I had it jacked up in the rear and the front on the ground. DOH!. Is it ok to over flow?
Ok tom morning I am going to undo the fill plug and hope some fluid drains out. The car will also be level when I do this. Can't believe I didn't even consider the car being slanted forward lol. I am an idiot.

With 2 quarts, it is definitely overfilled. Level the car, and allow the excess fluid to drain .
The correct fluid level is at the bottom of the filler plug hole. The fluid capacity is 1.69 quarts.

Well I did this at my dad's down the street since he has a huge workshop. I should be ok if I don't drive it to much or drive it hard. Drive like a grandma. But yes I will go tom morning and open the fill hole a little and let the fluid come out.
I'm glad I'm not the only idiot; I was repacking the front wheel bearings on my Ford Lighting and when removing the right front caliper I wondered why it was so hard to remove the mounting bolt,,until I realized I was pulling on it the wrong way!
I've always run with just short of 2qts, only about 4 ozs are left in the last bottle when lube starts coming back out the fill hole everytime i change mine. I change mine every year, for 3 years with no probs yet. Car is up on ramps at the end of my sloping driveway so the car is almost level, with the rear end slight higher. So if (1.69 qts/or 54ozs) is correct im about 6oz overfull........nothing to worry bout for me

I thought overfill with blow the seals under heavy loads? Having a breather vent rare for our kind of cars? I guess it would shoot out what's over filled right? It should I just go ahead and let some out?
