Headlight gear or another problem?

About a month ago, I was having an issue with one of my headlights not popping up while the other one would. Now, both are doing it. I can however, turn the hand crank half a turn or less and then go hit the switch and they will pop up and return when I turn it off. Is this a symptom of the gear? Just seems like if I can turn the hand crank a little and it causes them to pop up, it would be something else, but i havent a clue. Anyone experinaced this before?

I had the same issue with my driverside & found out the gear was missing a few teeth. I came across a used motor cheap & replaced it. Everything works great now.

I would look into upgrading your stock plastic gear to the brass gear. Their are multiple CF vendors that will steer you in the right direction.

Thanks everyone for the responses. It makes sense now after reading your posts that it is the headlight gears. Once we are out of this 100 to 110 degree heat, I will work on it!
