I just saw this mod and while it makes sense to route the coolant away from the throttle body, does it really make a difference? Doesn't the coolant going through the throttle body serve a purpose?
if you live in a cold climate it supposedly helps warm up the air going into the intake or something like that. i bypassed mine just because then i wouldnt have to mess with the coolant every time i took the throttle body off

I did it for the same reason. I also got the part at Lowe's for less than three bucks.
it was designed to keep the TB from freezing in cold climates & from what i understand, the air moves through its relatively small area fast enough that there's virtually no heat soak coming from it. that said, it's more of a convenience thing if you take your TB on & off.
I did it for the same reason. To not have to mess with coolant every time the throttle needs removed. Plus, I had the parts just sitting around. I did this on my old LT1 Trans am too. It does make the difference in that you can hold your hand on the TB no matter how long you just drove it. Before, it was way too hot. Yes, the air travels through so fast it probably doesn't make a difference, but it is also not heating up the intake any more by being connected to it. I say why not do it? I just helped my friend port and polish his TB on a 06 Ram. It did not even have a coolant line running to it. There's really no need. If anything, you will save the life of the sensors at the throttle. They get to enjoy a much cooler life.
