Default LS1 to LS2

Is it possible to put a LS2 intake on an LS1? If so what kind of hp gain could I expect...stock with can-tune and K&N.
It would be free mod except for my time.
Thanks in advance.

bad idea. It has been discussed here a lot. Some charts show that the LS2 intake will perform more poorly than a LS6 intake. It is not plug and play either. Since it has a 90mm opening you will need a LS2 throttle body, wiring adapter, a way to connect PCV, and a tune to rescale for the larger opening.

By far the LS6 is a better intake and is plug and play. Dont mess with the LS2 and all the customizing required.

You dont need a new throttle body for a LS6 intake. Other than the cool sticker the LS1 and LS6 throttle bodies are the same.

It does not specifically have to be off an LS6. All 2001-04 ls1 and LS6 intakes are the same.

Ok so if I understand this correctly it would probably be waste of money to put the 2001-04 intake on for the cost. I can save a couple more $$$ and buy a FAST and gain more for my $$$ ?

A couple more dollars?? No, it will be significant, considering you need an intake, throttle body, conversion harness, and a tune. Without headers and a cam, you would be very disappointed with a FAST. Sounds like you need to do some more reading, before dropping any money.

MORE reading and More questions. But that is how we learn.

Realisticly not looking for huge hp, but better throttle responce would be great.

If you are looking at doing more mods down the road the get the new rereleased FAST 92 and a mail in tune for now. If you have no plans on doing anything else, the LS6 intake will work. From all of the posted comparison charts you wont see a lot of low end gain but high will make a difference.

You can find an LS6 intake (any flat bottom off of an 01-04 vette, Z06, F-body, etc) on craigslist for around $350 now days. I paid 320 for mine. It is a significant upgrade and is a direct replacement with no other mods necessary.
The FAST is without a doubt a better intake on a internally as well as externally built engine; however the LS6 has been used on cars up to 500whp where I go for tuning. It really is fine for the price, and then if you ever move to a FAST, you can turn around and sell the LS6 for what you bought it for.
Your stock TB is 78mm where it connects to the 78mm LS1 or LS6 intake. All it needs is some porting on the front side and you will have a good setup.

Thanks for all the responces. Still lots of reading and for sure there will be more questions. For now I will enjoy the ride and do some mods after the snow flies.
