Default Radio reception

I'm not getting good reception on any stations now. Anyone who has had this problem or knows the cure please give advise.
I have a 98 C5.

Thanks

If you had good reception before and not now, I would think the first place to look is at your antenna. Make sure it's plugged in to the radio and it's all connected right back to the whip. Did you do some work in the car that you've might have unplugged it somehow?

I did nothing to my knowledge. I use my I-pod through my lighter but I cannot see that causing bad reception when using the radio.

Assuming that you have a coupe, since you didn't say in your question, I believe that there is an amplifier for the antennae that are built into the windshield and rear glass. I don't know how it's fused, but the fuse box says #24 for antenna. That may be for the power antenna on a convertible and not the amplifier on a coupe. You might also check the connections on the back of the radio. As I remember it, the am radio antenna is in the windshield and the fm in the back glass. If both are weak, I'd look for a common connection such as the amplifer or connections at the radio. It could also be in the radio preamp inside the head unit. I don't know how your ipod connection is set up, but I'd look into that very closely also. Maybe it's interfering in some way. If it is connected to you antenna connection, I'd try putting that back to stock. If it generates a signal and picks it up via the antenna system, then I don't know. If it's a convertble, check the wiring at the base of the power antenna to make sure it's clean and connected.
