Default Praise for stock shifter...

I've been driving with my B&M Ripper for about two years now. When I went into the dealer to pick up my new 'Burb yesterday, I decided to sit in the ZO6 they had sitting on the showroom floor. When I went to row the gearshift, I immediately noticed how low effort its throws are. Yes, the ripper has short throws. Yes, it is easy to slam the lever from 2nd to 3rd. But I have spent the last 2 years convincing myself that the stiff-arsed nature of the Ripper was a good thing. For the occasional drag-strip style blast, I think that the ripper is great, but with 90% of my shifts in casual commute traffic, there is no question that it is time to cut a 1/2" of the end of the stock shifter and bolt it back on.

Do what makes you happy. But I had a ripper on for five months. For reasons too long to go into, I had a stock shifter back on for a week, with a shorter ****. The Ripper is back in the car now, and it's staying it.

I agree with Jim, and not just because I know him  ! I put the stock shifter in my car when I traded it on my new zo6 and it felt like I was rowing a boat! I hated it. I drove my new car with the stock shifter for a week and just when I got used to it again put the ripper back in and I will never look back! I guess if 90% of my driving was just tooling around with the flow of traffic, maybe I'd feel differently, but 99% of the time I am slamming through the gears, downshifting to pass or just to hear the engine roar! It's no wonder I go through brakes and tires so much! :D :D
