Default Army friend called with this problem

He has been gone for 4 years--stored a 2003 z06- car has 12,000 miles and stored all this time--car was started once in a while-liely too much idling-- but not driven--he says its hard to start--took it for a ride and popped alittle bit at around 6300 in first gear--im guessing old gas and carbon build-up--i said drive it for 100 miles and ill bet it comes out of it--any other suggestions? Thx.

I would have changed all fluids, inspected all rubber boots and seals, checked the intake to make sure nothing made a home in it. Topped off the fuel with some 93 and some additive and cleaner as start. If it still pops suggest cleaning the entire fuel system out and some new plugs. I do that except changing all fluids after my car sits for only 6-7 months when im gone.

Red line on a Z06 is 6500--anyway the popping im sure is carbon with old fuel--he did change oil and filters---the car was stored in a climate garage but started often--im thinking too often and just built up carbon and needs to be driven hard for awhile--

Old fuel and carboned up parts. Hell, maybe a rats nest blocking the air intake!? After sitting THAT LONG Id start with fresh expendables before I even started it.

Most of us know how Corvettes are hard on batteries. Maybe his is not up to par, and giving him voltage fluctuations...

Mice sure do love Corvettes...

I came back home from overseas once and was dying to take mine out for a drive, only to find that a mouse decided to chew up some underhood wiring and make a nest under the LH engine cover.

Mothballs scattered under the car seemed to help, or so I thought. Over the years I've found mouse nest "fluff" and droppings packed in under the battery tray, and up behind the rear shock brackets.

They are really nasty little critters!

Jesus you guys are picky. I'd just fill up with a bottle or 2 of fuel system cleaner and keep beating on it. I can't imagine it was stored with a full tank of gas.
