is the stock flywheel on a 99 as good as a lightened one, any benefits like quicker acceleration, also, what is the rear differental 3.73 ? the vette seems like its geared kinda high to me, i am used to the 4.10 rear on my rx7tt. what the be the cost of the parts to change the rear in a 99 c 5.
Not sure how heavy the flywheel is, so I don't know if a lighter one will make much of a difference or be worth it. In general, though, a lighter flywheel will result in a more responsive motor that revs up and down more quickly. However, the engine will likely idle a little rougher and be harder to make smooth shifts with, due to the reduced crank momentum.
If your car is a stock MN6, it has a 3.42 rear. If it's an A4 it has either a 2.73 or 3.15. The 3.15 can be identified by a G92 code on the option sheet, which is in the glovebox on the newer C5s (not sure where it is on the '99s.
I think most people pay around $1000 for a gear swap, all told.
Hope this helps, and welcome to the club.
