I seen some talk on lifting pads for C5 I found some in the store and they are a nice tool to keep the lift off the body (if you have a car lift you need to order 4) just in case anyone was wondering :smash: :smash: :flag
If your lifting on the crossmembers with a standard floor jack you just need a block of wood. "Pucks" are from lifting at the corners, according to the owners manuel it recomends lifting at all 4 points at the same time (altough some members do lift one at a time, its not recommended), they are really designed for 2 Post lifts. For jack use, the owners manuel recommends lifting from the crossmembers, where you would just use a piece of thick wood to even the load out a little.
I had my car lifted with a floor jack behind the front tire, no problem just make sure you place it behind the rocker panels. also had it on a lift just make sure the mechanic is careful where he places the pads.
Why two pucks together I use one puck amd it works fine.. but themI could not get two under there anyway with my car being lowered it cost me 5 dollars to make 4 lift pucks with eyes to lock the puck to the frame
DarkMercury; do you have to use 2, or is that just your preference?
I was able to use just one hockey puck ($1 each at Dick's Sporting Goods) and have about 3/8" clearance from the jack to the rocker panels.
I'm wondering if your jack has a deep pocket type pad...
These are the ones I bought and the puck idea is nice BUT I bought these to lift customer cars with this is made with this in mind of protecting the car I would like to think if you were a doctor and I came to you that the best care would be taken to assure I am taken care of properly We are just being carefull thanks for the input
went to a Chevy dealer today, they had a c5 on the lift getting an oil change, they didn't use any pucks.
I had a dealer do that to my car. I just won a small claims case against them for the damage they caused.
I bought a set from Fichtner Chevrolet (supporting dealer, see my signature)I now carry them with me at all times in case I need unexpected service (i.e. flat repair) while on the road. Chances are that if you need something unexpectedly the shop you end up at won't have lift pucks.
