I've had my 2001 6-spd coupe for 16 months (14,000 miles) and it's now been at the dealer for the past 15 days. This is the 3rd attempt at fixing the fuel gauge--it had already been in for 3 days for the same repair the first of the month. Also done to this car: driver headlight retractor replaced, both heat sensors replaced (twice), tire sensors replaced, alternator replaced, driver seatbelt replaced twice, ac module replaced after 4 servicings (horrid odor like sweaty gym socks), PCM replaced, roof adjusted 4 different times, etc. I love my Vette (it's my 1st) but I'm sick of rental cars! Anyone know how I can get GM to replace this?
Use the procedure in the back of the owners manual for the BBB. That is the way to get it all started with GM. GM does pay attention to the BBB procedure. Since you have been in 3 times for same problem, it will get attention. It worked for me. Ken
Check your state lemon laws and get a lawyer. It seems other forum members doing a lemon law buyback did not get GM's attention until a lawyer was brought on the scene. Best of luck.

Not that it answers the question, but my '01 M6 (2yrs old in Aug) has been in 2x for the erratic fuel guage (still not fixed), 2x for tire sensors, 2x for a roof leak, rocking drivers seat, speaker buzz TSB, oil consumption issues, is about to go back for the 3rd try at the leaking roof....and has had the engine replace.
The best thing for you to do is file a BBB\Autoline claim and if GM refuses to buy back your car then file a state Lemon Law cliam. You can do both claims yourself without a lawyer.
The biggest problem you will have is the mileage on your car. Each state depreciates the buy back price by a formula based upon your mileage at the time of the buy back. The more mileage the less money you get back.
My 2001 Corvette had severe oil burning problems. A local dealer replaced the rings and butchered the engine. They actually gave it back to me with the motor mount bolts loose. I filed a state Lemon Law claim and it was set for hearing later this month. GM just agreed to repurchase the vehicle. They will not give you a new car and therefore the only alternative is to get your money back and buy something else. Good luck!
My 2001 Coupe uses more oil than I think it should as well. How much was yours using? When you say they butchered the ring replacement, what went wrong? Did the ring replacement fix the oil consumption problem? Any adverse effects? I'm trying to decide whether it's worth having my rings replaced now that the dealer has agreed to do it.
My car was using 1 qt. of oil per 1,400 miles driving in city traffic. GM agreed to replace the rings but refused to replace the engine. The repair was supposed to take 3 days and actually took 15 days. The dealer took the engine out of the car, removed the heads, pistons and related parts and then couldn't put them back together. I was told they had lost some of the bolts and when the car was returned to me I had blue smoke coming out of the exhaust. That eventually cleared but the engine still runs rough. I took it to an independent shop and they found that the motor mount bolts were loose and that the engine has some unusual valve train noise on the passenger's side and that there is an intake manifold leak. GM claimed that the engine was OK but when I filed a Lemon Law claim they agreed to buy the car back.
