Almost bald 275 DR Nittos or 295 Pilot Sports with only 800miles or so on them. Of course drag radials are better in general, though the Nittos seemed much better with thread and don't hook up well now? They don't turn into racing slicks I guess
I just added FLP headers and want to get some good times tonight. I was thinking the Piolts, and roll off the line.
Re: Which will be better for traction tonight? (jofre_69)
Well seems like I should have went with the drag radials anyhow. Can anyone confirm that Nittos turn to crap once all the thread is gone on the contact patch though? I used to get 1.7 or 1.8 60ft easy, but now its never under 2 seconds with them, but 2 flat or 2.1 is still a lot better than my bright idea of using costly street tires today.
On the street, the piolts seemed great, so I tried then tonight, but at the track my lowest 60 foot was 2.36 with them :smash: with a 3 second 60 foot sneaking up if not careful. On top of that, it was super hot tonight (102deg durring the day go figure) so I didn't run better than my last times, though spending $1500 on the FLP exhaust. :(
"tire softening stuff"? What exactly are we talking about here? May try it on the nittos or just order some BFG drag radials next week. So when someone says tires are the most important perfromance modification, its true!!
Summer sucks for drag racing, need more colder weather :) I ran about the same as I did in DRs few weeks ago on street tires this time, likely due to the headers, so If try BFG DR that are supposed to be better than nitto, I should have better luck next time :(

There is no substitute for a softer compund used in the Dr's..maybe alittle spray VHT will help....
Re: Which will be better for traction tonight? (vstella)
Is the Spray VHT this tire softner stuff someone above was talking about? Also, some drag radials get better the more worn they are, is this true for the nittos, as it doesn't seem so. I will try one more time with them and lower PSI, what are you guys using?
